The Deity of Christ

Matthew 16:14-17 The Father is the one who reveals who Jesus is.

GOD's ATTRIBUTES

There are certain qualities of God that are unique:

• Omniscient - all knowing
• Omnipotent - all powerful
• Omnipresent - present everywhere
• Forgives sin
• Creates from nothing
• Knows the future

1. GOD IS OMNISCIENT

God knows everything. He knows the hearts and thoughts of everyone. He knows the past and the future. He knows each star by name.

Christ is omniscient

2. GOD IS WORSHIPPED

Exodus 34:14. God alone is worthy of worship.

Christ is worshipped

3. GOD FORGIVES SIN

Only God can forgive sin because all sin is against a holy God.

Christ forgives sin

4. GOD CREATES

Only God can create something out of nothing.

Christ creates

*Colossians 1:16 *John 1:35.

5. GOD SAVES

Only God can save a person from hell.

Christ saves

RIGHTEOUSNESS - Isaiah 45:24, 1 Corinthians 1:30

SHEPHERD - Psalm 23:1, John 10:11

GIVER OF LIFE - Deuteronomy 32:39, John 5:21

OMNIPRESENT - Psalm 139:7-12, Ephesians 4:10

OMNIPOTENT - Isaiah 40:25-26, Mathew 28:18

PRE-EXISTENT - Genesis 1:1, John 1:1-2

When Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father, Jesus replied - John 14:9.

To deny the the Deity of Christ is heresy. This issue is at the heart of The Da Vinci Code, which we shall be looking at next week.
