"EVOLUTION UNMASKED"

The intention of these series is to show how great God is! Science and the Bible are not at odds as many think. The founders of modern science realised that they were only thinking God's thoughts after Him. We need to be amazed at how many actual scientific facts there are in the Bible.

With regard to Evolution we need to be challenged afresh. If you hold to this theory then you have to hold to the view that there was death and disease before the creation of man. But God in Genesis 1 looked at all that He had made and said that it was good. How could death and disease be good? And if death and disease weren't caused by mankind's sin then there's little need of a Saviour. Genesis 1 and 2 are foundational to an understanding of the Gospel. Please come to this series with an open mind.

For the second two weeks of this series Reverend Kelso spoke on the theory of evolution, its incompatibility with scripture, and its inability to stand up to genuine scrutiny.

Despite its being taught in schools as fact, the theory of evolution is still only a theory and has little or no supporting evidence. Scientists are continually finding previously unknown fossil evidence that simply does not fit the theory, which then has to be revised (see our "wider news" page for a recent example of this).

The sermons provide very useful facts to present when in conversation with those who feel God has been taken out of the equation since the theory of evolution gained such wide acceptance.

NOTES TO ACOMPANY THE TALK "EVOLUTION UNMASKED", PART 1

If evolution is true then the Bible is false. Genesis 1: 27 talks of God creating us in His image. Evolution states that we evolved from apes so that makes God a big ape! Ridiculous and blasphemous.

The Big Bang? Ask an evolutionist: "Where did space for the universe come from? Where did the initial material come from? What sparked the explosion?" You can't create something out of nothing. This destroys the Big Bang theory because there's nothing to go Boom!

Genesis states that every creature was given the ability to reproduce after its own kind, (Genesis 1: 20-25). So dogs don't produce cats etc. Each creature brings forth after its own kind. That's fact. Why then should anyone believe that mankind came from another species? Whilst we see microevolution - variations within species, we don't see any evidence of macroevolution - one species evolving into another.

Evolutionists claim the appendix and tailbone are leftovers from evolution. Rubbish! The appendix is part of the human immune system and the tailbone supports muscles that are necessary for daily bodily functions.

The Peppered Moth

This is supposed to be the classic example of evolution by natural selection, where a dark variety evolved by being better camouflaged on tree trunks. Untrue! They don't rest on tree trunks during the day and the pictures in evolution textbooks are a scam! They were all staged. This lie is in keeping with Darwin's words: "How almost universal it is in an author to persuade himself of the truth of his own dogma."

Mankind devised the theory of evolution because it eliminates the need for God, a God to whom we are accountable. "We believe it (evolution) because the only alternative is special creation and that is unthinkable." (Foreword to Origin of the Species, Sir Arthur Keith).

Mankind's Dominion

Animals are not aware of their being, mankind is, (Psalm 32:9). We are moral beings. We have authority over the animals, (Genesis 1: 28). Jesus underlines this, (Matthew 12: 12).

The Law of Probabilities refutes evolution

"The likelihood of the formation of life from inanimate matter is one in 10 to the power of 40,000. This buries Darwin and the whole theory of evolution. The beginnings of life must have been the product of purposeful intelligence." (Sir Fred Hoyle. Prof. of Chemistry. Cambridge University).

Earth's population refutes evolution

Evolutionary scientists believe man has existed for a million years. Using the assumption of 43 years for an average human generation the population growth over a million years would produce 23,256 consecutive generations. This would produce trillions x trillions x trillions x trillions of people. We all ought to be standing on vast mountains of bones but archaeology hasn't found a fraction of them.

Psalm 14: 1

This is at the heart of evolution. It's a foolish man-made theory that enables people to do without God.
