Purity

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see the God.”  Matthew 5: 8

“Whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, and whatever is admirable, think about such things.” Philippians 4: 8

 Double minded             James 4: 8

A wave of the sea         James 1: 6

Too often we’re like this

The secret?

“Seek first His (God’s) Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well”    Matthew 6: 33

Washed by the Word“ Transformed by the renewing of our minds” Romans 12: 2

 Ephesians 5: 25-27

“Cleansing her (the Church) by the washing with water through the Word.”

How do we read God’s Word in a way that will wash our hearts and minds and help us to live like Jesus?

1.  Ask God to meet with you

His whole Being is leaked to His Word. Psalm 138: 2

Ask Him to begin to wash your mind and heart

2.  Have a daily Bible reading plan

A little of the Old Testament and New Testament.

Balanced diet

3.  Meditate on a brief passage

You can’t meditate quickly!

God wants to speak to us through His Word, to renew us, encourage us, challenge us.

4.   Read with a readiness to surrender

Resolve to be obedient to it.  Open your spirit and seek the Word’s cleansing work.

5.  Take one thought or verse with you throughout the day

God promises to bless those who meditate on His Word.        Psalm 1: 1-3

Bible Meditation is built on the principle that what the mind respects, it retains.  Take a single verse or a line to be with you through the day

:“Be still and know that I am God”  Psalm 46: 10

”Our Father in Heaven”  Matthew 6: 9

As we let God’s Word wash us we will begin to be transformed in our minds and our hearts as we act on what we hear.
